It was great to return to Villars and Barboleuse in the summer after all these years. We enjoyed the beautiful views and mountains of this region. All our memories came back ... It was just too short !!

Three generations had an excellent stay with plenty to do indoors and outdoors.
Excellent walks, beautiful cakes from the nearby patisserie and friendly service from the local restaurants.
All in all, a great week, supposedly out of season (November) too! - Will be back for skiing in the New Year.

Every conceivable wish is catered for in what we can only describe as a 5 star rating. If you want views, skiing and real Switzerland then Chalet Moonrise will not disappoint. With spectacular views of the mountains, tons of fluffy powder snow like meringues, idyllic. The chalet is romantic, sumptious and full of the loving care you have put towards making it so fabulous. Excellent attention to detail! We will be back hopefully for the hill climb in September.

The chalet is amazing, the scenery is just simply magnificent. It was our first time skiing and we were all a little apprehensive to say the least. But with the help of our fab ski instructor recommended by the owners, we all mastered it and had such fun. We are now all truly addicted and shall be back to Moonrise without a doubt next year !!

"Simply stunning"
We have all enjoyed a wonderful week’s break – the first visit to Switzerland for most of us. The chalet has lived up to all its promises – extremely comfortable and the views are simply stunning. Our visits included Glacier 3000 – a must see - and we visited on a day with clear blue skies and 30 degree temperatures! The Gruyeres Cheese factory was worth a visit – a very pretty mountain route towards Bulle. There is an exhibition, restaurant, shop and you see the cheese being made. Vevey had good shopping and nice cafes. Montreux was very pleasant and we did a boat ride round the Lake. Enjoyed the restaurant behind the Jazz bar in Villars. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were really lucky with the weather. Hope to come back again.

"We had the most amazing stay"
The weather has been glorious in the high 30s with cloudless blue skies (whilst there were rain storms back in the UK). We ate outside every evening and even enjoyed a BBQ at the chalet. Can highly recommend ‘Le Sporting’ restaurant in Villars, great for a treat and they have a lovely sun terrace to eat out on with spectacular views. We took the mountain train up to Bretaye past the golf courses in the sky and enjoyed a wonderful, leisurely walk past three lakes and ended up at Lac Chavonnes where the boys had a dip in the 20 degree waters. Followed by a great bowl of Macaroni cheese. What a find his area is and Chalet Moonrise has just been beyond all our expectations. We definitely hope to return and may even try it in the snow next time. Thank you so much.

"I would not trade our experiences here for the world"
We have really enjoyed our stay in Moonrise. All our ski lessons were fun and really payed off. The views were absolutely amazing every night - when me and my sister Thea (six) came in from building snow-horses and toboggan slopes, we would spend about 15 minutes having great fun building a fire well. All in all, the chalet is amazing and I would not trade our experiences here for the world

"Excellent"
We had a lovely stay here for the first time in Switzerland. The chalet has been very comfortable and met our needs very well. Tourist office in Barboleuse very helpful and purchase the ‘free access’ pass which will save you money on trains, cable cars, golf and Villars Sports centre etc. Montreux very pretty. Take a boat ride over to France (well worth it). Thermal baths are great, about 24 sfr per adult. Got to Martigny for Roman Amphitheatre and St Bernard dog museum – excellent.

An excellent venue for our family gathering. We have been very lucky with the weather and enjoyed the fantastic views. Absolutely clear sky on Monday – wonderful. We have enjoyed many trips out to enjoy the scenery. The cable car ride to Aigille du Midi in Chamonix was a great experience. Thank you, we really don’t want to leave.

"All the interior decorations and recommendations were wonderful"
We had a great time in this lovely chalet. The weather was wonderful and we had the opportunity to visit Gruyeres, Gstaad, Chamonix, Zermatt, Crans Montana and Verbier. The Matterhorn was out in all its glory. We enjoyed the fireplace many evenings and the cool, crisp evening air. All the interior decorations and recommendations were wonderful. Thank you for sharing this perfect location with us.

"We couldn’t have asked for a better home for the week"
We arrived at night in thick fog and woke to the most breathtaking views with not a cloud in the sky. Took a trip up to Glacier 3000, yet more amazing scenery. Had great fun on the Alpine Coaster and husky dog sledging. Had a walk across the Glacier and watched the first day of skiing and snow bashing. Visited Gruyere, Bex salt mines, Chateau Chillon – all very interesting and well worth a visit. As for ‘Moonrise’ itself, we couldn’t have asked for a better home for the week. We saw about 20cm snow fall this week, and were happy to stay in, drink hot chocolate, eat raclette and play cards. Wonderful attention to detail and so welcoming and comfortable after driving here from England late at night!! Thankyou !

"Our third time and yet again we’ve been blessed"
Another fabulous week at Chalet Moonrise. Our third time and yet again we’ve been blessed with a heavy snowfall the week before our arrival. Blue skies for all bar one day of the week. A beautiful chalet and a perfect ski instructress, recommended by the owner. A rare thing, a holiday loved by both adults and children. Having been here in Jan, Feb & November we’re now looking to come back late Spring / Summer. Best wishes as always for the welcome, and as ever for the chalet.

"A great time had by all in wonderful surroundings"
Our first time to Switzerland as a family and we’ve had a great time. We’ve done some wonderful walks – Bretaye and around the Lac Chavonne, Solalex and Anzindaz and a forest / river hike around Frenieres. We’ve eaten at both restaurants at Solalex and had a wonderful evening up at the Refuge at Taveyanne - gas lights and candlelights with meringues and tarts to die for. Went to Chamonix and rode the Aigille du Midi cable-car past Mont Blanc and across the Glacier to Italy. Kids almost as impressed with three countries in one day as the Glacier. All aching today after an afternoon at Parc Adventure in Aigle – highlight of the week for the boys – not sure how good it is for a 40-something though! Spent a lovely afternoon at Chillon, boys thought they were in an episode of Robin Hood ! As you can see, great time had by all in wonderful surroundings.
